IAA Transportation presents details of the concept: themed days on logistics, trade, infrastructure, local authorities — Last Mile test track in a film set backdrop — International award ceremonies “Bus of the Year”, “Coach of the Year”, “Cargo Bike of the Year” — High registration level
Under the motto “People and Goods on the move”, the IAA TRANSPORTATION will take place from September 20th to 25th, 2022 on the grounds of Deutsche Messe AG in Hanover. In addition to the presentation of vehicle innovations, the focus is on the areas of logistics, transport, and digitization of commercial vehicle traffic on the way to climate neutrality.
The previous IAA Commercial Vehicles is thus expanding the range of topics and exhibitors and, with its new name as IAA TRANSPORTATION, will become the leading international platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, buses, and transport sector. With the extended event concept, it networks the relevant manufacturers and suppliers from the commercial vehicle, bus, and logistics sectors with leading tech providers. An important goal of the new concept is, as an international platform, to focus more on the climate-neutral and technological transformation of the entire transport.
“The IAA TRANSPORTATION is the leading trade fair for transport, commercial vehicles, and logistics. Our successful concept for a corona-safe implementation of the IAA MOBILITY 2021 will also be used at the IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover: The current registration status makes it clear that the concept expansion from the industry is positively accepted. Exhibitor registrations have already been received from more than forty countries.
The high number of registrations is gratifying and also underlines the wish of the exhibitors to want to offer customers a live experience with the new products again,” says Jürgen Mindel, VDA Managing Director.
IAA TRANSPORTATION with four theme days
The new concept of the IAA TRANSPORTATION also implements a combination of the presentation of new products, specialist audience, and expert exchange within the framework of the IAA Conference 2022. In order to enable exhibitors and visitors to present their target audience in the best possible way, the four days of the IAA Conference will focus on different key topics.
- FUTURE LOGISTICS , with the topics of supply chains, trucks, integration of rail and shipping, e-mobility and hydrogen technology in heavy goods traffic and in heavy and light commercial vehicles as well as technological and digital innovations for the logistics chain
- TRADE & LOGISTICS , with the topics of the last mile, inner-city logistics, vans, transporters, cargo bikes, delivery robots, digitization and innovative solutions for retail, e-commerce
- INFRASTRUCTURE , with the topics of electricity and hydrogen charging infrastructure, expansion of data networks, data management, long-distance bus transport, rail transport connections
- INNOVATIONS IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT, with the topics of buses, electrification, hydrogen, ride-sharing, ride-hailing, MaaS, digital networking of the existing offer

“IAA Last Mile Experience Area” sets new standards for the industry
With the Last Mile Experience Area, the IAA TRANSPORTATION presents an innovative new hall concept. For the first time at a trade fair, a complete city backdrop will be set up indoors, within which the latest last mile solutions will be presented in action. The use of parcel drones, delivery robots, e-transporters, e-cargo bikes as well as innovations from the Internet of Things, data networks and cloud technologies, SaaS platforms, and decentralized hubs will be shown.
“With the new format, we want to bring city planners, technology providers, food retailers, and delivery services together with the players in the logistics industry, mayors, and local politicians. Only with intelligent, innovative, and socially accepted solutions will we be able to meet the growing need for inner-city logistics and move towards climate neutrality “, says VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel.
Presentation of renowned industry awards at IAA TRANSPORTATION
At the IAA TRANSPORTATION, prizes are also awarded in various branches of mobility. The winners of the renowned “Bus of the Year”, “Coach of the Year” and, for the first time, “Cargo Bike of the Year” competitions will be presented and awarded.
“We are in good talks with “Truck of Year”, “Trailer Innovation Award” and “Van of the Year” and I am optimistic that we can present all these awards in Hanover in 2022 and thus give them the greatest possible attention. We are particularly pleased to be able to welcome the “Cargo Bike of the Year” at the IAA. This clearly shows how diverse our portfolio is,” says Jürgen Mindel.
