Schaeffler India expands industrial production capacity

Inaugurates new manufacturing hall in Savli, Vadodara, to meet growing market demands

Pune, June 28 2023: Global leading industrial and automotive supplier, Schaeffler India Limited (BSE: 505790, NSE: SCHAEFFLER), announced the inauguration of manufacturing hall 2 at its manufacturing facility at Savli, Vadodara Gujarat. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Stefan Spindler, CEO Industrial, Schaeffler Group and Executive Board Member, Schaeffer AG, underscoring the significance of this expansion.

The new hall will add the manufacturing capacity for small and medium-size products, which will further enhance Schaeffler’s market competitiveness in this region. The expansion of Savli plant’s production capacity is a vital step towards driving localization strategy and meeting the growing demands of the market.

Realizing India’s potential as an efficient production hub

The inauguration of hall 2, Schaeffler will add additional capacities of over 10,000 sq.m. of production space, to the existing state of the art manufacturing plant in Savli. This increased capacity will enable the plant to manufacture spherical roller bearings (SRB) and spherical rollers, while also expanding its heat treatment capabilities. The enhanced production capacity will support the growing market demand in the wind, heavy industries, and railway sectors now.

With this expansion also comes an increase in employment opportunities. By 2025-2026, Schaeffler India expects the employee strength at the Savli plant to double from the existing numbers, signifying the company’s commitment to creating sustainable employment and fostering economic growth in the region. It also supports the country’s ‘Make In India’ call and Schaeffler is proud to contribute towards the initiative.

Schaeffler India’s Savli plant currently carries out all quality related work, such as heat treatment of raw material, Face & outer outside diameter grinding and honing (precision grinding) the inner and outer rings of rolling bearings. The various products produced are Small Ball Bearings which are used in two wheelers, Cylindrical Roller Bearings (CRB), Tapered Roller Bearing (TRB), Spherical Roller Bearings (SRB) and Large Size Bearings (LSB) that caters to wind, railways and heavy machinery sectors. Savli plant also caters to exports towards intercompany demands of Schaeffler Group.
