Top Predictions
Trends and developments that will have the greatest impact on the global and thereby the Indian manufacturing industry over the next five years:
Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT)
Tracking production activity is fast becoming an asset to the manufacturing industry. This data has given new power to this sector, by identifying variables that weren’t acknowledged as problems, giving companies ample data to make the right decisions. Industrial production involves many steps; it only makes sense to have a production facility that is highly interconnected.
Self-Sustaining Productive Cells
Going forward, manufacturing companies will be interested in partnering with machine tool suppliers who will be able to provide end-to-end automated solutions. This would include tooled-up machines and automation which meets their production volumes and cost requirements.
In an industry where time is of essence, eliminating the time and effort put in by customers into setting up a production facility by offering these services all in one place will soon become a necessary step manufacturers will need to take.
Growth in Emerging Segments like Aerospace, Defence & Electronics
Emerging segments like Aerospace, Defence and Electronics are increasing their volumes in production. It is important that machine-tool manufacturers make the best of this spurt in demand and bring productivity suitable for these industries.
VISION 2023: GROWTH STATEMENT
The company’s plans for growth for the next five years and how they align with the vision.
“AMG’s vision is to be among the top 25 global players within 2021. We are already the largest manufacturers in turning centres, machining centres and grinding machines in India and plan to double production in the next 5 years.
We will be introducing new products which will cater to the needs of aerospace, defence and electronic industries in India. We will also be consolidating our no.1 position in the automotive industry by augmenting our existing range with the new High-Production Compact Series machines.”
BESTSELLERS
Bestselling products or services that have made a big impact on the industry.
Ace Manufacturing Systems
From AMS, close to 4000 machines of the MCV- 400 & MCV- 450 models have been sold so far making them a bestseller. These machines are used mainly in the automotive, general engineering & die mold sector.
Ace Designers
The Jobber series from Ace Designers is a huge hit with buyers since these models are introduced to support SME & MSME job shops. The series is contributing to over 65% of Ace’s turn over in terms of numbers. These machines are priced economically and are a quality substitute for imported CNC lathe that are imported from Taiwan/China.
Micromatic Grinding Technologies
Cylindrical Grinding Machine is the best-selling product from Micromatic Grinding Technologies. This product has been in production since the past 45 years and is a great substitution for import machines thanks to its superior quality and productivity.
CASE STUDY
Use cases that highlight the application of
the company’s products and services in solving
the customers’ challenges.
Grinding of Non-Metal Component
Objective- Grinding of brittle component with critical tolerance requires special tooling and process. One such component is Carbon graphite bushes used in pump shaft which needs special attention for which Micromatic grinding technology has provided proven solution.
Description- Carbon graphite bushes are used in pump shafts as bearings providing self-lubrication due to characteristic of graphite and higher running life.
Since carbon graphite bush is very brittle in nature, CTQ-Critical To Quality, required specialised tooling’s wherein force used for clamping are required to be balanced, i.e. ensuring Zero damage to the ground bush yet maintaining Roundness accuracies retained even after de-clamping of the part from the machine.
Solution- MGT had engineered and developed suitable work holding with low clamping force for precision Graphite Bush Bearings and automation for loading-unloading, resulting in achieving higher level of accuracies as required and low cycle time suitable for higher productivity.
