Carmakers’ Bid for a Greener Future
How well prepared is India’s automotive industry – and its supplier ecosystem – for the challenge and the change.
“How dare you?” When teenage activist Greta Thunberg thundered these words at the world’s powerful leaders during 2019’s UN Climate Action Summit, she voiced the anger of a generation. No face-saving argument can hide the fact that climate change is the biggest concern of our time. And transportation is the second biggest source of pollution, the energy sector being the biggest. The automotive industry, therefore, carries the crucial responsibility of moving toward a sustainable future with better technologies, whether it is a transition to newer forms of fuel, or making more efficient engines or making a full or partial transition to electric mobility.
On Saturday, 11 December 2021, DMI will host a webinar on this subject where industry thought leaders will discuss with Editor of Dynamic Manufacturing India, what are the ways in which the Indian and global automotive industry is seeking to reduce its carbon footprint and become a part of the solution.
MAIN TALKING POINTS
- An evaluation of how important the issue of climate change is, presently, and what are the biggest sources of carbon emission, and whether automotive is fairly or unfairly criticized for the same.
- What are the most promising technologies – current and emerging – that could potentially help reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
- How well prepared is India’s automotive industry – and its supplier ecosystem – for the challenge and the change.
