Italy & India Business Meet 2025 Fosters Economic Collaboration

Key Industry Leaders, Diplomats, and Experts Gather in Ahmedabad to Explore Investment and Growth Opportunities

Ahmedabad, India – January 22, 2025 – The Italy & India Business Meet organized by IICCI – the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board, with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai and of SDA Bocconi Asia Center took place on 22nd January 2025 in Ahmedabad, bringing together prominent business leaders and industry experts.

The first session was dedicated to the travel fraternity, and the results of an online survey on Indian touristic flows towards Italy compared with the data provided by the Bank of Italy offered the starting point for a participated discussion on new tendencies in the hospitality market.

The second session was opened by the President of IICCI Mr. Alessandro Giuliani, who shared the rich calendar of event that the Chamber has planned for 2025, followed by the CEO & Secretary General of IICCI Mr. Claudio Maffioletti, who encouraged the Italian investors wishing to direct their attention to Gujarat. Mr. Walter Ferrara, Consul General of Italy in Mumbai, closed the session with a report from his meeting with the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel earlier in the day. On that occasion new possible collaborations were discussed in important production sectors, also within the framework of the joint action plan signed last November by Prime Ministers Meloni and Modi.

During the Round Table discussion that followed, Mr. Kshitiz Gaur, Special Correspondent to the Times of India, Jaipur & Associate Faculty of the Dept. of Journalism, MDS University, moderated a panel of managers of well-established Italian companies that were unanimous in declaring Gujarat the ideal location for a rewarding venture: Mr. Shaunak J. Dave, MD & CEO of Antares Vision India, Mr. Mahendra Tripathi, Country General Manager & Executive Director of Lamberti India, Mr. Sanjay Monga, CEO of Panariagroup India Industrie Ceramiche and Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, MD of System Ceramics shared their experience in working according to Italian values in an Indian – and international – market. The interaction was lively and full of valuable insights on the ceramic industry, on the value of Made in Italy and on the strategic point of contacts that make India and Italy business collaboration so fruitful.

The event was graced by the participation of Mr. Sandip Sagale, Industries Commissioner of the Government of Gujarat and of representatives of iNDEXTb, the Investment Promotion Organization of the Government of Gujarat, as a signal of a strong will and plan of cooperation between this state and Italy.
