The India edition of the “Made in 3D – Seed the Future Entrepreneurs” program started in 2020 with 10 schools from Pune, Maharashtra and for the second edition this year it is expanded to 51 schools from 28 states of India. To promote inclusivity, the schools chosen are distributed across India, with an adequate mix of them from major cities, rural areas and aspirational districts. The second edition has three distinct themes that allow students the freedom to innovate: ‘Biomimicry’, ‘Scientific Toys’ and ‘Devices or Products for Rural Ecosystem’.

Each of the selected schools will form a team comprising of one teacher and six students in the age group of 12 to 16 years between 7th and 10th standard. These students need to design and manufacture their dream products using specialized 3D design software and 3D printing technology. Each team is expected to work like a startup and the students are required to participate in the entire process of creation, from the early design to the marketing of their product, with the help of promotional videos, mailers, and communication campaigns.

Schools selected in the previous year will be playing the nodal centers/mentors role for new schools joining the program in this year and onwards; along with a team of volunteers from La Fondation Dassault Systemes. The program was inaugurated at a virtual function by Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission in the presence Dr Olivier Fudym – Attaché for Scientific and Academic Cooperation French Embassy, Dr. Rakesh Ranjan – Mission Director of Aspirational Districts Program, Niti Aayog, Govt of India and Mr. Sudarshan Mogasale – Chairman- Dassault Systemes Foundation.

School students and teachers will have a unique opportunity to connect and interact with French schools and students for cultural and technical knowledge sharing.”
