India remains one of the most promising export markets for the Italian machine tool manufacturing industry, according to the latest surveys conducted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Association of Italian machine tool, robots, automation systems, and ancillary product manufacturers, India has emerged as the fourth-largest destination for Made in Italy products in this sector.

As per the data, during the first nine months of 2024 (January-September), sales of Italian machine tools to India witnessed an impressive growth of 80%, reaching a value of €141 million. This remarkable achievement underscores the strength, resilience, and commitment of Italian enterprises towards the Indian market.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), a government agency dedicated to promoting Italian business development abroad and fostering foreign investment in Italy, has been instrumental in branding the excellence of “Made in Italy” to India and the world. Established in India in 1969, ITA operates through its offices in New Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai, providing comprehensive assistance to Italian small and medium-sized businesses through information, consulting, promotion, and training.

In this dynamic framework, the Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with UCIMU, is participating in IMTEX 2025, one of Asia’s largest exhibitions for the machine tool industry. The event will be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from January 23 to 29, 2025. The Italian pavilion, located in Hall 2B, will host 12 distinguished Italian enterprises showcasing cutting-edge solutions for sectors such as automotive, defence and railways  etc.

These companies exemplify the Italian machine tool industry’s unparalleled competence, catering to the diverse needs of the robust Indian market. IMTEX serves as a crucial platform for Italian enterprises to understand India’s evolving industrial landscape, engage with local stakeholders, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

As you know India’s machine tool industry is experiencing significant growth, driven by technological advancements, increased domestic consumption, and supportive government policies. Import trends from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, reveal a substantial increase in the quantum of Italian imports, with Italy achieving the highest growth among the top ten importing countries in this segment last year. This growth highlights the shared values and commitment between the Italian and Indian governments towards fostering bilateral trade and technological collaboration.
