Vipul Ray takes over as President, IEEMA for 2021-22

Rohit Pathak, CEO, Birla Copper, Hindalco Industries Limited takes over as Senior Vice President and Hamza Arsiwala, Chairman & Managing Director, Stelmec Limited, takes over as Vice Presidents  for the year 2021-2022

September 30, 2021, New Delhi: The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) – the apex association of the Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry, is pleased to announce Mr. Vipul Ray, Managing Director, Elmex Controls Ltd as the new President of IEEMA for the year 2021-2022.Mr. Ray took over at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held today.

Office Bearers Mr. Rohit Pathak, CEO, Birla Copper (Hindalco Industries Limited), and Mr. Hamza Arsiwala, Chairman & Managing Director, Stelmec Limited also took over as Vice Presidents for the year 2021-22.

Talking about his vision and priority for IEEMA, Vipul Ray stated India is going through an energy transition as a result of which the Indian Electrical and allied electronics industry will have lots of opportunities. To my mind, innovation, investment in digital transformation, Research & development, and quality will be key drivers to staying ahead of the curve. Exports, accessing international markets, will help keep us set our sights higher. Aligning to the national priorities of AatmaNirbhar Bharat, vocal for local and local for global would be important. IEEMA will therefore focus on all of these and at the firm level, work with its members to build competitiveness to be able to access international markets.  Of course, we will continue to build on our interactions with the Government to facilitate ‘Ease of Doing business; for our members.” 

My team and I will continue to work in building a robust, healthy, and dynamic Indian electrical equipment industry, encompassing the complete value chain in power generation, transmission, and distribution equipment.

Remarking on the change, Ms. Charu Mathur, Director General, IEEMA said, “We are delighted and looking forward to the leadership of Mr. Vipul Ray. He has extensive international experience, a passion for start-ups, innovation, and technology.  All this makes him exceptionally well placed to lead IEEMA at this very important juncture.”  

Mr. Vipul Ray is an active mentor in the start-up ecosystem, he is fueled with an undying passion for engineering and product development. His able leadership has aided Elmex to grow multifold and has a presence in more than 45 countries across the globe and in various sectors ranging from Renewables, Oil & Gas, Railways, Industrial Automation, Telecom, Power, etc. Mr. Ray is a B.E. (Mechanical), M.S. (Manufacturing) from the University of California, Los Angeles, (UCLA) and M.B.A from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

About the two Vice Presidents, IEEMA:

Mr. Rohit Pathak is the CEO of Birla Copper, Hindalco Industries Limited. He has been with the Aditya Birla Group for over a decade and joined the Group as the Principal EA to the Group Chairman, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, where he advised Mr. Birla on key priorities (such as M&A, organic growth, special initiatives) and strategic planning & monitoring across the Group Businesses, and help the businesses on strategic issues and to leverage the Group Functions as needed.

Mr Hamza Arsiwala , is the MD & CEO of Stelmec Limited. , a company prominent in the Power sector in India for the last two decades. Hamza has demonstrated success in various facets of his life – from winning personal accolades to gaining market leadership for Stelmec’s M.V Switchgear and also building strong credibility in Power Transmission projects. Today, he is plowing resources in automation within the Smart Grid space. He embraces every challenge and turns obstacles into opportunities for growth and learning. One who leads by example contributes with the attitude of selfless service.

Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association:

 Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) is the apex association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics, and allied equipment in India. Founded in 1948, IEEMA is the first ISO-certified industry association with 950 member organizations encompassing the complete value chain in power generation, transmission and distribution equipment. IEEMA members contribute to more than 95% of the power equipment installed in India. The Indian electrical equipment industry size is USD 50 billion with exports of USD 8.5 billion and the power equipment share in the capital good industry is about 50%. IEEMA plays a crucial policy advocacy role with the government and its agencies. It works closely with standardization bodies, R&D organizations, and testing institutes for formulating Indian standards for developing energy-efficient products.
